Could You Have Money Waiting for You?

You could have a Child Trust Fund worth hundreds or thousands? Find and claim it free through HMRC's official service.

Could You Have Money Waiting for You?

If you were born between 1 September 2002 and 2 January 2011, or you're the parent or guardian of someone who was, you could have a Child Trust Fund (CTF) containing hundreds or even thousands of pounds. Child Trust Funds were set up by the UK Government to help young people save for their future.  Many people don't know where their account is held, but finding out is easy and completely free.

Check for Your Child Trust Fund

The quickest way to find your Child Trust Fund provider is through HMRC's free online tracing service.

HMRC can tell you which provider holds the account, although they cannot tell you the account balance. You'll usually receive a response within a few weeks.

Find Your CTF

Please note: If you're a parent, guardian, or supporting a vulnerable young person, different rules may apply when accessing a Child Trust Fund. If the account holder is under 18, lacks capacity to manage their finances, or you're unsure what steps need to be taken, further guidance is available through the official Government website.

What Is a Child Trust Fund?

A Child Trust Fund is a tax-free savings account created for children born between September 2002 and January 2011. The Government made an initial contribution, and family members may have added more over the years. The money belongs to the child and becomes accessible when they turn 18.  Many accounts have been forgotten about, meaning there could be money waiting to be claimed.
