What makes us different
We are Cambrian Credit Union. The term “Credit Union” may be new to you so we would like to explain a little more about what we are and what we do.
We are a regulated financial cooperative which means we are subject to broadly the same scrutiny by the Financial Conduct Authority as any other bank or building society. We are also part of the Government backed Financial Services Compensation Scheme so individual savings up to £85,000 fully are protected.
As cooperative we are owned by people like you, the people that use us, and our sole purpose is to deliver what you want from us. Because we are owned by the people who use us, we can concentrate on creating real value for our members rather than balancing this with the dividend demands of large institutional shareholders. As a member of the credit union you have a say in how we run things, what our priorities are and you even share in the profits.
We treat people as individuals.
As a credit union we do not believe in hidden fees and charges, and we do not penalise you if a loan is repaid early. If you want to arrange a loan, unlike many of our banks, we do not solely rely on automated credit decisions based on a credit file. We lend to people and we will take the time to get to know you, and take into account your individual personal circumstances.
